Wills Ridley Ltd is celebrating 50 years of supplying hydraulic steering gear to the marine industry.
The Cornwall UK based company began by supplying small local fishing vessels back in 1963 and has grown to where it now supplies agents in 27 countries and has even expanding into the luxury yacht market whilst still supplying its more customary base of commercial workboats such as tugs, pilot boats and ferries.
Wills Ridleys latest product is a steering control unit that allows multiple rudders to be synchronised electronically without the use of a tie bar connecting link. The unit is very accurate and its compactness makes for space savings. It enable independent rudders to be fitted, using rudder position units on each one feeding back to an LCD display in the steering control cabinet that has parameters pre-programmed to monitor the rudders’ positions.
