Walcon Marine sees consistent project flow
Walcon Marine in the UK says it has continued to see a consistent flow of projects from around the UK and overseas as marina operators and harbour authorities continue to invest in their infrastructure through the downturn.
Recent notable orders received by Walcon have included Nanny Cay, Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands, where the company recently shipped pontoons required to create a five berth super yacht facility at the Caribbean resort. Constructed using 3m wide ‘System 21’ units, the marina is being assembled within the existing harbour wall and will be capable of taking yachts of 50m plus.
In Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight in the UK, Walcon has completed the refurbishment of the short stay facility using 3m wide concrete Waliflotes, and also undertook the piling using the Walcon Wizard mobile piling rig. Phases 2 and 3 will now take place over the winter to include the refurbishment of some of the existing pontoons and access bridges, and the addition of new ones.
At La Collette on the island of Jersey the new marina is now open for business following its £700,000 refurbishment. Walcon built System 21 pontoons plus walkways for 110 berths.
Walcon Marine’s latest project in Wales saw Denbighshire County Council place an order for a river mooring facility consisting of an 80m landing pontoon plus an access bridge and a complementary 69m mid-river berthing pontoon for the harbour at Rhyl.
