Aarsleff secures Värtahamnen contract

The contract has a value of almost DKK 1 billion and is to be carried out during the next four years in order to make land available for urban development in the Swedish capital.

The new Värtahamnen terminal will allow space for urban development in part of the older port. The project will see the ferry service from Stockholm to the Baltic countries moved from the old port area to the Värtahamnen, which will have five new ferry berths. Once the ferry service has been relocated, the old port area will be converted into a new urban area with office buildings, shops and housing.

Production of the pre-fabricated concrete elements for the new facility is to take place at Aarsleff’s facilities in Swinoujscie, Poland. Design and planning of the project will commence immediately but the production will not commence until sometime during the summer of 2013.
