Visiting the survival and safety gear specialist’s stands at various trade shows is always an enjoyable experience and this year’s Seawork in Southampton was no exception.
In the middle of the safety and survival equipment on display, stood what at first glance appeared to be a humble and diminutive pole. However, upon closer inspection, it quickly became clear that this unassuming item is in fact a telescopic pole with a reach of up to 17m and whose interchangeable accessories system is making it the search and rescue device of choice for many sectors, including offshore, search and rescue, for port authorities and the military.
The versatile Reach and Rescue pole system offered by BCB Marine can be deployed in seconds and help get people out of tight situations fast. Unlike throw and retrieve techniques, this system is not hampered by current, wind wayward throwing. This saves emergency teams valuable time in reaching and retrieving persons in distress.
One very neat accessory is a mountable underwater camera and powerful LED torch which can illuminate and help teams pinpoint any structural damage as well as dangers that may be lurking in murky waters.
With a total of 16 retrieval accessories the system provides indispensable tools for virtually every search and rescue mission imaginable.
