ResQLink PLBs selected for use by RNLI
USA based safety and signaling technologies specialist ACR Electronics Inc has been selected to provide ACR Personal Locator Beacons for the lifeboat crews of the UK’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
The RNLI has saved approximately 140,000 lives in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland waters since 1824.
ACR’s ResQLink Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) was selected as the product of choice by the RNLI to keep their lifeboat crews safe. Chosen because of its superior operational and technical performance and single handed re-useable antenna deployment, the ACR ResQLink will be issued to all lifeboat crew members for fitment to their life jackets. The courageous volunteers of the RNLI will now have the additional protection of ACR PLBs. The ACR ResQLink transmits a 406 MHz distress signal with GPS positional data through the global Cospas-Sarsat satellite system to SAR forces worldwide.
Michael Wilkerson, CEO of ACR Electronics Inc said: “For ACR to have an organization of lifesavers select one of our products for its quality and performance is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees, who work vigorously to design and produce quality products, knowing they are used to save lives.”
