Irish houseboat moorings upgraded

The moorings will be to the east of Sallins Bridge covering a length of 120m and include electricity, water, lighting and access to sewage pump out and rubbish disposal facilities. The existing canal bank is to be landscaped with pathways designed in accordance with Waterways Ireland’s ‘Access for All’ standards.

In addition to the new house boat moorings, an area for 240m of extended moorings west of Sallins Bridge is also being prepared, where boats owners already in possession of a suitable permit will be able to apply for one year mooring licences. A short term mooring for boats continuously cruising is also being installed east of Sallins Bridge; these moorings will also have fresh water facilities.
