ARCADIS win two port contracts in Brazil
Dutch consultancy firm ARCADIS has signed two large contracts to project manage a new port terminal in Säo Luis in north eastern Brazil for a global mining company based in the country.
Both projects are part of the biggest iron ore production complex owned by the client, and the biggest of its kind in the world. For ARCADIS the contracts represent a value in excess of €37m over a period of two years. Described as “logistical expansion projects” the investment will allow the mining company to meet its production target of 230 million tons per year in the region.
The projects include expansion of port and stockyard facilities with ARCADIS providing project management for construction of a new deep water bulk berth, increasing the iron ore stock and handling capacity. At the peak of the projects ARCADIS will have a team of 275 professionals working at the various sites.
