IMCA inertial navigation guide
Responding to increased usage for survey, installation and inspection tasks, the International Marine Contractors Associations Offshore Survey Division has published an introductory guide to inertial navigation systems for offshore applications, IMCA S 022.
It provides a broad overview of INS technology currently used for surface and sub-surface positioning operations together with a general summary of technologies, applications and important considerations for usage.
Section topics include Technology for Positioning, Aiding Techniques, Current Limitations and Future Developments. An appendix also covers inertial measurement unit types, export licensing and references. The 34-page publication can be downloaded free of charge at www.imca-int.com.
