New MCA Boat From Halmatic Makes a Splash
Portchester UK based Halmatic is providing a new fleet of eight boats for the Maritime & Coastguard Agency .
The Arctic 22 RIBs will be trailer mounted for ease of deployment around the UK and will be powered by twin 90hp outboard motors. The new craft will be built to Lloyds Register of Shipping Rules Report 10 and the MCA Brown Code Category 3 Rules.
As part of the comprehensive testing and trials programme the craft are subjected to a series of tests to ensure their structural robustness. Part of the procedure involves a series of drop tests.
Three drops are made from a height of 3m, the first with the boat level, the second at a 45º bow down angle, and the third with a 45º stern down angle.
The craft pased this test comfortably and will now complete the trials programme prior to handover.
