Fishermen Get a Grip
A section of the Spanish fishing industry has been convinced that Vynagrip safety matting, traditionally used in the rugged environment of heavy industrial plants, makes an ideal safety covering on the open decks of trawlers.
The product is manufactured by Plastic Extruders Limited of Essex UK, whose Spanish distributor Decoplastic persuaded fishermen to try the tough, slip resistant surface.
Vynagrip matting provides high slip resistance, not only in sea water which is dissipated through the open grid, but also against oil dripping from machinery and the netting chains. The safety of the fishermen is further enhanced by having a relatively dry surface to work on when the nets are emptied. An additional benefit is that the fish remain cleaner by being kept off the steel deck.
Manuafctured from PVC in a grid welded format, Vynagrip is extremely hard wearing, with a deeply etched top surface which reduces slipping. Because it is comfortable to stand on, it also helps to reduce working fatigue which in turn boosts productivity.
The open grid facilitates drainage for dissipating spillage and other debris. The matting will contour over rough or uneven surfaces and is easily cut and shaped to fit around static deck equipment.
Vynagrip is available in widths of 60, 91 and 122cm of 10m length in red, blue and black as well as with safety alert yellow edges.
