MRT score highly in safety at Seawork
Marine Rescue Technologies, manufacturers of the Sea Marshall brand, had a successful Seawork with the release of the AU9 100mW and 500mW long range High Power Alert Unit and an upgraded Sarfinder 1003 MK11 Locator Base Unit.
Ray Wilson, sales support at MRT said, ‘Seawork 2010 was a success as we had enquiries from all over the world for our Sea Marshall products, including the defence attaché from the Philippines, marine companies in China, New Zealand, Netherlands, Germany, geophysical and hydrographic surveyors in Belgium as well as many successful sales and enquiries from UK based companies from different market sectors, including commercial fishing, oil and gas, diving, renewable energy and aquaculture.’
Within the renewable energy sector, especially the offshore wind farm market, Marine Rescue Technologies has also established itself as the preferred supplier of MOB (man overboard equipment) by working closely with the major developers and contractors to develop a system that meets their requirements.
Marine Rescue Technologies Ltd completed extensive and successful sea trials this year in the Faroe Islands for their Land Authority, which is responsible for sea farming within the Faroes. The Coast Guard also attended. Products involved were the Lone Worker System with dual modem and high gain antenna, Portable Sarfinder system, AU9-LW 500mW beacon and Mullion SOLAS 275N life preserver with an integrated Sea Marshall AU9.
The company had yet another successful sea trial in the Red Sea this year with their Lost Diver Locating System. The equipment being tested included the Sea Marshall Sarfinder, capable of locating an activated Alert Unit, a Sea Marshall AU9 500mw personal locator beacon and a Sea Marshall Au9 500mw personal locator beacon fitted to a surface marker buoy. The system provided accurate tracking up to 14km from a seagoing vessel to their AU9 500Mw Dive Unit. Following the success of these trials, the new AU9 500mw long range Alert Unit and the Sarfinder Lost Diver Locating System have now been approved by the Egyptian government for Red Sea diving.
The Sea Marshall Alert Units(PLBs) transmit on 121.5Mhz, the international search and rescue frequency, so as well as being able to ‘self manage’ a man over board incident, local coastguard and search and rescue authorities can be called if necessary. The AU9 Dive Alert Unit has been tested up to a depth of 75m and with the unit attached to a surface marker buoy has the ability to raise the alarm from the sea bed, saving vital minutes in a dive accident where decompression can take many minutes before a diver can reach the surface.
