New Oz EPIRB Located in Europe
Plymouth UK based SM Group (Europe) Ltd have added to their range of equipment from Australian marine equipment manufacturer GME with the launch of a full specification 406MHz EPIRB.
The result of three years extensive research and development by GME engineers, the GME MT400 offers significant performance over existing beacons while also reducing the cost of owning a 406MHz EPIRB. Compared to older analogue EPIRBs, the MT400 provides worldwide coverage, accuracy to within 5km, and a more stable transmitted signal resulting in minimal detection time. Also, a unique digitally encoded message provides Search & Rescue authorities with vital information, including the country of beacon registration and identification of the vessel in distress, reducing the incidence of false alerts and unnecessary deployments.
The MT400 is fitted with SOLAS retro-reflective taping which encircles the unit just above the waterline, is supplied with a 5m buoyant retention line and a flexible, self straightening stainless steel antenna.
