Transport specialists get Bear in the air
UK based boat transportation specialists PSP have celebrated the safe return of Bear Grylls after playing a part in his latest challenge.
PSP, which moves boats and equipment across the world, moved equipment 2,300 miles by road and air for Bear’s 2,500 mile RIB voyage through the icy waters of the North WestPassage.The adventurer completed the expedition on 9 September and met with PSP’s managing director Frank Dixie at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, of which PSP is the major sponsor.
The company transported shipments of dry food, camera equipment, vital satellite phones, charts and other supplies more than 2,300 miles by road and air for the challenge. The goods were delivered to PSP’s warehouse in Segensworth, Hampshire where they were packed onto two pallets and shrink wrapped, before being couriered to Heathrow and transported via plane to Newfoundland.
PSP has recently joined forces with another leading shipping agency as it continues to strengthen the first boat transportation alliance in the industry. West Med, founded in 1997, will become PSP’s arm in Italy and will become an official member of PSP’s alliance. West Med is allied with one of the leading marine logistics companies in Italy, the SGM- Container Agencies- Euromar group and also operates as a ship broker, project forwarder and bulk liquid logistics company.
Frank Dixie said, ‘The continuing progress we are making with the alliance only goes to show how strongly we feel that our customers deserve the best. PSP has also recently announced a brand new sailing to Australia, making them the only British company to provide a service which will run from Southampton to Freemantle.
PSP worked closely with its partner in Australia, PSP alliance member AAW Global Logistics, in order to establish the service and its maiden voyage departs this month.
The new service will join PSP’s other regular sailings, which include those to the Caribbean, Europe and the Mediterranean, in addition to its bespoke shipping service.
