25 years of building more than deck equipment

Twenty-five years ago, DMT Marine Equipment began its journey in a small office apartment with just six people and a clear focus: delivering high-quality machinery design. It was a modest start, but one driven by ambition and a firm belief that quality should never be left to chance.

Winch onboard

As projects became more complex and expectations increased, a key realisation shaped the company’s direction: true quality requires full control. This led to a decisive step forward, moving from design-only services to in-house production. What began as a small engineering team was evolving into a fully integrated organisation.

From local beginnings to international reach

DMT’s growth has been steady and defined by milestones that expanded both its capabilities and global presence. In 2004, the company took its first step towards internationalisation by opening an office in Turkey. As demand increased, the need for production control became clear, leading to the opening of the first production hall in Europe in 2011. From that moment on, every stage of an order, from engineering concept to final testing, was handled under one roof with full accountability.

Growth continued in the following years. In 2014, a modern office facility was opened to bring together a growing engineering team, followed in 2015 by a second production facility in Europe that significantly increased manufacturing capacity. In 2016, investments in CNC machines further improved precision and efficiency.

At the same time, DMT was expanding internationally. By 2017, service partnerships were established in North America, and in 2018 the first deliveries were made to the US market. Each step reflected the same direction: stronger capabilities, closer proximity to customers, and greater control over quality.

Strengthening technical knowhow & expertise

In 2020, a new production facility was opened to support rising demand and more complex projects. This global expansion continued in 2024 with a new facility in China, strengthening DMT’s presence in Asia. Looking ahead, 2026 will mark another milestone with the opening of a fourth production hall in Europe, further increasing production capacity.

Throughout these years, DMT has continuously invested in technical capability, production efficiency and team growth. Scaling the company has never been only about expanding facilities, but about developing the expertise needed to support them.

Today, the results of this journey are visible worldwide. More than 3,500 vessels operate with DMT winches in demanding environments. Each installation represents not just a product, but a tailored solution designed for real operational conditions.

DMT delivers complete deck equipment solutions for all marine sectors, integrating electric, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems. Every project is managed end-to-end, from engineering and production to final testing, ensuring full control over quality and performance.

With two core production hubs and a growing global footprint, DMT provides European quality and tailored engineering solutions to vessel operators worldwide.

Partnership and people

In the marine industry, performance is measured not at delivery, but in operation. Commissioning is often complex, timelines are tight and conditions unpredictable. In this environment, DMT Marine Equipment has built its reputation not only as a manufacturer, but as a dependable partner.

DMT’s approach combines custom engineering, precision manufacturing, rigorous testing and continuous support throughout the lifecycle of its equipment.

Supported by an international service network, assistance is always available wherever clients operate. Real partnership, for DMT, means being present when it matters most.

In 2026, DMT is a global team of more than 500 professionals combining engineering expertise, production knowhow and a shared commitment to quality.

Over time, the company has built not only facilities, but a team capable of solving complex challenges and delivering consistent results. This balance of technical strength and human commitment defines DMT today.

As CEO Piet ter Schure says: “For me, engineering has always been about people as much as technology. What we build today is only the foundation for what we will achieve together in the years to come.”

The capabilities developed over the past 25 years now open new opportunities. With strong engineering foundations and advanced production capacity, DMT is positioned to expand its portfolio and deliver custom-engineered solutions to a wider range of industries. As it continues to grow, its role in the marine sector will strengthen further, while its expertise will increasingly extend beyond it.

Twenty-five years represents trust earned, partnerships built and consistent performance in real-world conditions. From six people in a small office to a global company present on thousands of vessels, DMT’s journey has been defined by commitment, precision and reliability.

And as the company looks ahead, one principle remains unchanged: to build solutions that perform and partnerships that last.
