Award kudos for digital marine safety training aid
Blue Orange Wave, a Netherlands-based leader in maritime digital training, has won the prestigious Crew Connect Global Award for Training and Safety at Sea.
The award was granted for Blue Orange Wave’s project with Holland America Line (HAL), which leverages its Edumersive VR eLearning solution.
“With Edumersive, new hires can virtually explore their assigned vessel, practice emergency scenarios and master safety protocols anytime, anywhere,” said Captain Tim Lodder, founder of Blue Orange Wave.
“This immersive approach ensures crews are well-prepared, reducing risks to life and cargo at sea.”
Simulator training
Blue Orange Wave’s simulator training addresses challenges in safety at sea, particularly in onboarding and crew familiarisation.
Using VR-enabled tools, maritime personnel can experience realistic onboard environments, making learning interactive and effective. This system allows training to occur remotely, cutting costs and saving time, while also being fully accessible offline.
Founded in 2018, Blue Orange Wave aims to enhance safety at sea by blending operational expertise with cutting-edge digital solutions.

He said that with this award, Blue Orange Wave is solidifying its position as a leader in simulator training for the maritime industry, helping drive forward the standards of safety at sea.
