MRE doubles fleet with acquisition
Manor Renewable Energy has doubled its fleet of crew transfer vessels with the purchase of OPUS Marine.
UK offshore energy support firm MRE signed the deal to integrate the German CTV owner and operator into its company, which will result in the doubling of its CTV fleet from eight to 16.
Most of the boats have capacity for 24 passengers and include Chartwell Ambitious Class hybrid design vessels and one 20m multi-purpose workboat currently in build by Manor Marine in Dorset.
The acquisition gives MRE a strong foothold in the German and Baltic markets, says Eric Briar, CEO, and follows the addition in July of another four vessels to its fleet of offshore support vessels to operate around Europe and Asia.
”The increase in fleet size is significant, with proven vessels of a low average age,” said Briar. ”We are looking forward to utilising the vessels on temporary power projects alongside commissioning and O&M scopes for our clients.
