Macduff rebrand their new tug and workboat range

General workboats are now the Ness class, harbour tugs the Forth class, Mampaey DOT tugs the Dee class, ASD tugs the Clyde class, line handlers the Tweed class, escort tugs the Tay class, river tugs the Spey class and water tractors the Don class.

Macduff has been working hard to increase its share of the tug and workboat market and their order book continues to grow. Three 23m Dee class tugs are to be built for POET in Singapore, two 13m Forth class for Boustead Yachts in Malaysia and one 16m Ness class for John McLoughlin in Belfast. British Waterways are to build up to ten 13m Spey class workboats.

The company is also in final discussions with an overseas client for a 13m Dee class vessel equipped with the Mampaey DOT towing system. This tug-workboat will be a development of the successful forerunner Ugie Runner demonstrated at Seawork in June of this year. Ugie Runner was the first to be fitted with the Mampaey DOT system and has created considerable interest since entering into service.

Such has been the interest in the DOT system that the company has produced a 16m version with a 20 ton bollard pull and two different 13m versions based on the Ugie Runner but with an increased bollard pull of 13 tons. This is in addition to the DOT equipped 23m Dee class of which three are now under construction by POET in Singapore for their own use.
