Damen Shipyards have launched the first two tugs of their new ASD Tug 3213 design at the Son Cam Shipyard in Viet Nam. The 32m tugs have a beam of 13m and will be fitted with Caterpillar C175 16v-C main engines generating a total of 6,920bhp. A bollard pull of over 82 tons is anticipated towing ahead and 70 tons towing astern, with a free running speed of 12.5 knots. This new design is intended for operation at oil and gas terminals and twelve vessels have already been ordered.
