Sonardyne International’s custom-built Brazilian subsidiary in Rio das Ostras in Macae has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Guidance Marine, Leicester UK-based global developers of position reference systems for offshore DP applications, covering local servicing, repair and training support for its widely used Artemis microwave position reference sensors for long range applications. Customers include the Brazilian state oil concern, Petrobras.

Commenting on the agreement, Paul Smith, Operations Director for Sonardyne Brasil, said it was a natural outcome as both companies are accustomed to staging joint technology workshops for the benefit of local DP vessel owners and operators based on their individual development of complementary products. With a permanent presence in Brazil for over 24 years, Sonardyne’s UK-developed underwater acoustic and inertial navigation facilities are currently operational in every local deep water field.
