Austrian Diesel engine manufacturer Steyr Motors has redesigned its 6 cylinder series during the last 18 month.
The all new SE-series is based on the reinforced Monoblock design which is the key for durable operation under highest load conditions. The Monoblock received redesigned intake channels and this, together with the upgraded high pressure multifuel Unit Injector, results in a significant improvement of efficiency, which in
some models and under certain load conditions can be up to 30%.
The overall packaging dimension have been reduced, to the benefit of light workboat applications. Another significant improvement has been done in the cooling system, including a thermostat controlled oil cooler and a complete redesign of the exhaust manifold and heat exchanger, resulting in a significant reduction of oil consumption, a shorter warm-up period and the elimination of white smoke.
The new SE series meets all the current and near future exhaust emission requirements, including EPA Tier III, RCD, BSO 2, and IMO Nox.
