Thales Navigation Takeover
GPS equipment specialist Thales Navigation, whose European headquarters are in Carquefou, France, has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by Shah Capital Partners (SCP), a private equity consortium based in Santa Clara, California.
A full high specification analogue geophysical and digital seismic package has been installed, and the vessel is booked first by Gardline clients Floyd and Associates Ltd before moving on to a programme for Shell Exploration and Production in Europe. The scope of works will initially involve hazard site survey operations and will be managed by Gardline’s geophysical specialist survey company Gardline Geosurvey.
Under the deal, which is expected to be finalised within the next two months, the Thales Group subsidiary will trade under a new name, Magellan Navigation Inc.
The company is best known in the hydrographic world for its Aquarius range of high-accuracy positioning systems for marine construction, dredging and offshore applications.
