Maritime Professional Development UK (MPDUK) will return to Seawork 2026 with a new simulation-based training solution developed in partnership with Raymarine, aimed at improving navigation competence across the growing sub-24m workboat market.
Building on the success of its Seawork Innovation Award-winning maritime simulator platform, MPDUK has developed an SV-ECS and Radar Simulator designed to train skippers and crew in the effective use of Raymarine’s Small Vessel Electronic Chart System (SV-ECS) and radar technology.
Available in both PC-based and cloud-based formats, the simulator incorporates a fully functioning SV-ECS unit within a realistic virtual environment, enabling users to familiarise themselves with onboard systems before going to sea and as part of ongoing professional development and competency assessment.
The simulator recreates real-world navigation and collision-avoidance scenarios, combining live radar targets, varying visibility conditions and location-specific operating environments to reflect the areas in which workboats operate.
Designed for operators introducing Raymarine’s SV-ECS technology across their fleets, the platform aims to help crews maximise the capability of onboard navigation systems while promoting safer and more effective operational practices.
Pete Buckle, Director of MPDUK, said the realism of the system was critical to helping crews make full use of increasingly sophisticated bridge technology.
