In tug and salvage operations, success depends on fast response, dependable power and the ability to perform under constant heavy loads.
Baudouin marine engines are designed for these demanding duties, supporting operators in some of the toughest working environments at sea.
Built for intensive duty cycles, Baudouin engines offer strong transient load acceptance for rapid power delivery during towing manoeuvres, together with high torque reserve to maintain propulsion stability during sudden load variations. This gives crews the confidence to react quickly during harbour assistance, escort missions and offshore operations.
The heavy-duty design includes robust crankshaft and bearing architecture developed to absorb severe propeller load fluctuations. Low vibration levels help protect the gearbox and shaftline while also improving onboard comfort during long working hours. Compact layouts and accessible service points make maintenance easier, even in restricted engine rooms.

Focus on the M33.3 Range
The Baudouin M33.3 range has been developed for demanding commercial vessels such as harbour tugs, pushboats and workboats. The 6M33.3, a 19-litre inline six-cylinder engine, delivers up to 552 kW continuous duty and 670 kW intermittent duty. Its long-stroke design provides strong low-speed torque, particularly suited to towing and manoeuvring operations.
For higher power requirements, the 16M33.3 extends the range with a 52-litre platform designed to deliver high output at low engine speeds. It is well suited to larger tugs and pushboats where pulling force, efficiency and durability are essential.

Focus on the 12M55
At the top of the Baudouin propulsion portfolio, the 12M55 is built for the most demanding applications. With a 65.6-litre V12 configuration, it delivers up to 2536 kW (3450 hp) at 1800 rpm. Designed for sea-going tugs, dredgers and other heavy-duty vessels, it combines sustained full-load capability with high torque at low speed.
Its modular construction, individual cylinder heads and accessible maintenance points help reduce service time, while advanced injection and turbocharging systems support fuel efficiency and reliable operation.
Coming Soon: New Marine Gensets
Baudouin will soon expand its marine auxiliary power offer with generator set versions based on the 12M55 and 16M33.3 platforms. These new high-output gensets will provide shipyards and operators with powerful onboard electrical solutions for vessels requiring higher energy capacity and dependable performance.
With more than a century of engineering heritage, Baudouin continues to deliver practical, durable and high-performance power solutions for professional marine operators worldwide.
