Briggs Marine has inked a landmark £182 million contract with the UK Ministry of Defence, which will help strengthen the country’s defence capabilities and strengthen national security.
The eight-year agreement, the largest in the Fife-based firm’s history, will see Briggs supply and maintain authority moorings, markers and targets as part of the MoD’s modernisation of marine services.

AtoN upgrades
Central to the contract is scheduled marine maintenance and the replacement of critical aids to navigation (AtoN), essential for the operational readiness of naval forces both in the UK and abroad.
The company plans to use its advanced vessel, MV Forth Constructor, for delivery of the programme.
With the contract, Briggs will enhance its marine maintenance operations, improve data sharing with the MoD and reduce equipment downtime and risk exposure.
This contract both will help secure jobs and opens up new employment opportunities across the UK, while driving investment in vessels and infrastructure.
Briggs brings nearly two decades of experience in marine support services for the MoD, having previously contributed under the FPMS and CPMS programmes.
Now operating under ‘Equipment Authority’ status, the firm will also take on the design and assurance of replacement materials.
