Corvus Energy and BYD Energy Storage have signed a strategic agreement to accelerate next-generation marine battery technology and vessel electrification projects worldwide

This agreement signed on 13 May in Bergen, Norway, formalises the next phase of collaboration between the two companies following a Memorandum of Understanding already agreed in December 2025.

“This agreement accelerates our ability to deliver highly competitive LFP solutions at scale,” said Fredrik Witte, CEO of Corvus Energy.

”By pairing Corvus’ deep maritime knowledge with BYD Energy Storage’s world-leading cell technology, we can reduce system cost significantly while maintaining the safety and performance standards this industry needs.”

Combined expertise

The partnership is focused on developing low-cost, safe and reliable lithium iron phosphate battery systems tailored for demanding marine environments, supporting the wider maritime energy transition.

It combines Corvus Energy’s expertise in marine system integration with BYD Energy Storage’s advanced battery cell manufacturing capabilities. 

Under the agreement, the companies will collaborate on technology development, resource sharing and market expansion to advance the research, certification and large-scale deployment of high-rate lithium iron phosphate marine battery systems.

The partners aim to bring the next generation of marine battery technology to global maritime markets as demand for vessel electrification continues to grow.

Corvus Energy said the collaboration will strengthen its ability to deliver scalable battery systems that improve vessel uptime, reduce maintenance requirements and support return on investment for shipowners.
