Volvo Penta and Aus Ships are developing Australia’s first fully electric passenger ferry, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The collaboration marks a major milestone for vessel electrification in Australia’s commercial marine sector, combining Volvo Penta’s IPS450E electric propulsion technology with Aus Ships’ vessel build expertise.
